A lift without snow's cushion. |
"When I am afraid I will trust in You,
in God Whose word I praise."
- Psalm 56:3
I hum this verse. Yes. Hum.
When my men-children were boy- children, I had a cassette tape in the car with Bible verses set to music. We drove down life's highway and back roads learning the path of God's word that steers us in His direction.
Scripture memory. It's a good God thing that I just so happen to not be so good at...until I can hide it in my heart via some mesmerizing memorizing happy tune.
When the boy-children became tweens, I would sing this verse set to its children's lull while on a ski lift with my best friend sweet husband one summer day in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We thought it would be great fun to ride high above the grassy and rocky side of the mountain below us making our way to the top.
I was scared.
When I am afraid I will trust in You.
WHEN I AM AFRAID I WILL TRUST IN YOU!
I sang aloud in a shouting panicked rhythm to no one but my husband and the breeze rocking what seemed to be a frail contraption of an antique ski lift.
When will the ride end? Once up there, will we dare to ride back down? I'm not sure I can conjure up the courage to take the same route back.
Ah. But the top of the mountain is a great sight. Literally. To see from whence you have come brings joy as you realize that trusting the maker of the contraption to sustain your life on the ride was so worth it.
The Maker of my continuing contraptions makes sure I arrive safely here and there. Fortunately, I have a little traveling music in His word to make the ride much more enjoyable.
I'm not afraid to be writing with others today at
